Bio

My research explores the interactions between marine phytoplankton and heterotrophic bacteria and how these relationships influence the cycling of organic matter in the ocean. I use lab- and field-based approaches coupled with various omics tools (e.g., metabolomics, metatranscriptomics) to investigate how microbial communities produce, transform, and utilize dissolved organic compounds. I am particularly interested in the metabolic mechanisms that govern carbon exchange between microorganisms and the physiological strategies microbes use to acquire resources and support growth. More broadly, my work seeks to link microbial metabolism to the processes that drive marine biogeochemical cycles.
