Bio
I am interested in quantitatively understanding microscopic processes that affect large-scale ecosystem phenomena. Within the PriME collaboration, I have focused on characterizing the mechanisms that lead to chitin degradation, a process essential for maintaining the global cycles of Carbon and Nitrogen. My work has combined simple but quantitative microbiology experiments with mathematical modeling to understand the important parameters in this system as well as the coupling and interactions between these parameters and strategies.
