Bio
I am interested in understanding why and how so many diverse species of microbes can coexist in a single drop of seawater. I am developing simple proteome allocation and flux balance models of bacterial metabolism to uncover trade-offs between various metabolic strategies and thus predict how species should optimally vary given their environmental niche. I am currently using this approach to understand the striking dichotomy between marine oligotrophs and copiotrophs.
Research Interests
Microbial metabolism. Ecosystem dynamics. Trait-based modeling.
